Angela Fitzgerald

Angela Fitzgerald, Hairstylist February 2016 – Make Me Fabulous Make Me Fabulous

A bottle of blonding cream is Angela Barnes-Fitzgerald’s magic weapon. In her hands, it’s the ultimate tool for taking a client’s hair from drab to fabulous.

“I love highlighting. I like the transformation. I like the end result. I love to make people blonde.”

Angela graduated from The Educational Opportunity Center in Troy and started her hair career fifteen years ago, leaving an office job behind. She says her mom helped her realize her dream.

I’ve always had a passion for doing hair. I’ve been cutting and coloring my mom’s hair since I was thirteen years old. My mom pushed me and I’ve been doing it ever since. I owe it to my mom, who stood by me while I followed my dream. I like being artistic. I just love it.”

Angela worked in two other salons before knocking on Make Me Fabulous’s door. One year later, she’s thrilled she made the move to Make Me Fabulous, a warm-hearted, enthusiastic addition to #teamfab.

Inspiration is high on Angela’s priority list, saying #teamfab is one of many reasons she feels such passion for working at Make Me Fabulous.  Angela raves about the culture at Make Me Fabulous and the huge impact her experience there has had on her life.Working with brides and creating up-dos for the bride and bridal party are also high on Angela’s list of favorite things about her career.

“I love the artistic nature of it. I love the excitement of how the brides are. It’s the most joyous day, so fun to be part of their day. I love the creativity. It’s relaxing for me. It’s like therapy. It can be stressful, but I love the whole aspect of it.”

Angela McCarty

Stylist

When Angela started her first class at Adirondack Beauty School she knew she’d found what she wanted to do in life. “I’ve got the best job in the world! I make people look and feel fabulous!”

She continued her education training with top stylists such as TLC’s What Not To Wear stylist Nick Arrojo and also completed the educator courses for Farouk Systems line CHI.

Her talents have been seen on local runways and in several magazines over the span of her 12 year career.

The last several years have seen a newfound love for wedding hairstyles. Transforming a bride into what she’s always dreamed she would look like on her wedding day is very rewarding.

She draws a lot of her inspiration from her love of nature. From soft beachy waves to vibrant, fun colors of a sunset. She works with diligence and patience to achieve the perfect look for her clients.

What she loves about working at Make Me Fabulous is working with the best of the best in our area. We’re constantly learning from one another and inspiring each other.

Angela Wakefield has been working in the beauty industry for almost 15 years. She joined the Make Me Fabulous team almost 7 years ago and hasn’t regretted a single day! Her first love is Color, all of it, she can answer any of your hair color needs and is on her way to being a certified master color specialist. She started her education at Adirondack Beauty School in Upstate New York.  In addition to working for  Make Me Fabulous, she also works for Schwarzkopf Professional as a Technical Advisor.   For over 8 years, she has been spreading knowledge and training to independent and chain salons throughout upstate NY.  She trains often in NYC and is certified as a Curl Specialist with Ouidad, a line we carry here at  Make Me Fabulous.  If you have curly hair, this system is your friend. She keeps herself fresh with the current trends with ongoing continuing education and is the lead trainer for all our new staff members who offer hair services.   While it’s fun to learn about all the latest and greatest, she will always have a fondness for the classic, “ I think my favorite feeling is when I finish up with a client and they tell me ‘this is the color I had when I was a teenager.” Even if she is working with the colorful trends, she will try to find a way to make it look like you were born that way.  On top of being a color specialist, she loves herself a good updo. You may have seen some of her work in local wedding publications, including Well Wed and Saratoga Weddings, and on the national level in Martha Stewart Weddings and The Knot publications, as well as on Lifetime’s, “Say Yes to the Dress.”  One of her life dreams came true in the fall of 2015, when she had the opportunity to work with Alayne at New York Bridal Fashion Week at Kleinfeld’s working backstage for designers Pnina Tornai and Mark Zunino.  With all of this education, Angela Wakefield is a well rounded stylist and can cater to many of your hair wants and needs, earning her the nickname and reputation by many of her clients of “Hair Genius.”
