You may have heard that Angela’s Bridal is now open in downtown Albany…they recently made the big move from Guilderland to downtown Albany and had a FABULOUS grand opening celebration! Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the grand opening (we had a very special birthday to celebrate in our family–my eldest daughter’s 18th!), but I was so happy to be part of the opening…behind the scenes!
A few weeks before the grand opening JP Elario of Elario Photography and Janet Cooper, owner of Angela’s Bridal, asked Make Me Fabulous to help out with their collaboration to do some promotional photos. They enlisted our help to be on set for hair and makeup for the photo shoot and, of course, I said YES! How fabulous!
We ended up meeting on a Monday afternoon a few weeks ago for the photo shoot–it was the best day for JP and Janet and our “brides.” So we assembled at the new (and oh, so fabulous) Angela’s Bridal store on State Street (just down from the Capitol) and started bringing the fabulous for ELEVEN models! Whoa! It was a lot of work–but so fun! Creating bridal looks on eleven ladies made me thankful that we typically just work on one bride at a time!
The Monday that worked for all of us arrived and, guess what? It was raining! We knew we couldn’t reschedule the nearly 30 people it took to bring this shoot to life, so we had to start prepping and hope for the best! Eight members of our Make Me Fabulous team spent five hours creating an “editorial look” for each and every model. We then we looked over each and every model to make sure she was perfect! JP loves it when brides wear their hair down, so in true Elario favor, I decided that the models’ hair would be down. I tried to capture the 1940’s vintage style that is sooo popular today and pair it with striking red lips. I knew the shot would be big so the hair needed to be big and the colors bold, so each girl stood out amongst the group. JP, Janet and I had sent inspirational photos of our and ideas back and forth for weeks.
JP took a ton of photos inside the beautiful space that is Angela’s Bridal (we sprayed and shellacked and sprayed the models again)! And the staff at Angela’s just kept prepping dresses! We were all holding our breath and standing at the door with umbrella’s, tarps and plastic bags waiting for the rain to stop. And then JP said, “OK–let’s take this party outside, ladies!” We all looked at each other in fear, took a deep breath, opened the front door, and started walking up State Street!
At this point, I kind of freaked out–I mean, it was pouring rain, we had just spent more than 5 hours creating the most perfect hair and makeup we had ever done and JP wanted to take eleven models in bridal gowns and full hair and makeup outside!?! I almost had a heart attack!
JP insisted that I trust him and his vision and I’m so glad I did! The end result was so FABULOUSLY AWESOME and I’m in love with the image below! And, as you can see, it doesn’t even look like it was raining buckets! How does he do that?!
We’re so very happy for Angela’s Bridal and their amazing new store in historic downtown Albany! Congratulations to Janet Cooper and her incredible staff and thanks for inviting Make Me Fabulous to be part of the fun! Will you be stopping by their new store? Let me know in the comments!
