Nicki and Bill’s San Diego Wedding

From our bride Nicki,

“Many, many years ago I lived in Albany, NY, but moved away soon after visiting sunny California.  I just loved San Diego.  Of course, over the years, I still kept in touch with friends and family in the Albany, NY area via Facebook.  I saw a picture of Alayne doing makeup for a friend in Albany for a commercial shoot she was part of and couldn’t believe what I saw!! I’m not even sure I was dating my now husband yet!

The day I got engaged, and started planning our wedding–a mere 6 months away…I immediately reached out because although there are sooo many talented hairdressers and makeup artists here in San Diego (my own hairdresser does hair for So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice and other well known shows), there was no doubt in my mind that Alayne would be my girl.

She is booked years in advance, but…as fate would have it, she was free that one weekend in July.  Or should I say, that one day…  You see, Alayne was already scheduled to do hair and makeup for a national pageant in Orlando, Florida right after my wedding.  I live in California.  And yet, this wonder woman agreed to fly out, do my hair and makeup–including my entire bridal party (on her own), attend the ceremony, and catch a flight to Florida early, early the next morning.

Not only is she Fabulous.  She’s Extraordinary beyond belief, as beautiful inside as she is stunning outside, and I am grateful, honored and blessed to have had her for my wedding day.

The pictures speak for themselves, but I will tell you–i’m not even offended when I show people my wedding photos, and they respond with–“that’s not you!”  Yeah…it was.  :-)”

Thank you Nicki for having me and the pleasure was all mine. And BTW, I can completely see why you fell in love with San Diego!!! I can’t wait to come back!!!

A Fabulous Saratoga Wedding…

Happy New Year! I want to share with you the fabulousness that was Kelly and Craig’s Saratoga wedding!

This was a unique wedding for us as, though it didn’t seem like it from the get go. Like most brides, Kelly came to Ballston Spa for her preview about a month prior the her wedding with her mom and sister-in-law to be. She and her fiance were just a little busy, though. Her soon-to-be husband, Craig, is a south paw pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. So the months prior to their November wedding were pretty hectic with baseball season and then the Red Sox winning the World Series…yeah, no big deal, right?!

During the trial, Senior MMF makeup artist, Suzan, said Kelly wanted a smoky eye and a natural lip, and she loved the look.  I used our new Stila In the Know Artist Eyeshadow Palette, and Bare Minerals Rule Breaker Moxie Lip Gloss. But on the wedding day Kelly threw us a curve ball (hah!) and decided to have a more natural look. I used the same palette and just toned the application down a bit. Kelly was one of the sweetest brides I have ever worked with and is stunning to boot! She definitely made my job easy!
For Kelly’s hairstyle, senior stylist, Angela, noted that Kelly wanted a soft and natural look, again. We decided that big, soft, flowing curls would be so gorgeous with the sheer top of her wedding dress. We constructed a very simple down-do with loose waves by using my favorite combo of Schwarzkopf Osis styling products including, Flatliner for thermal protection and control against humidity and Freeze pump hairspray for hold. We used a 1 and 1/4 inch curling iron and let the curls cool while her makeup was being done. Kelly was very elegant and radiated a subtle, timeless glamour. With her kind and gentle demeanor I wouldn’t have guessed she was marrying a world series ball player!  Kelly actually hired Suzan and Angela to stay on and to touch her makeup and hair after the ceremony (just incase she needed it). After the ceremony, we just gave her a few quick tossles, spritzes, and a lipgloss touchup and sent her on her way to enjoy the rest of the evening.
We were really honored to be part of such an amazing day! Congratulations again to Kelly and Craig and thanks for choosing Make Me Fabulous!

Stay fabulous–
