Do Lash Extensions Damage Your Lashes?

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

This is a very common and completely understandable.

The short answer to this question is NO they will not damage your natural lashes.  The long answer lies all within the IF’s.  There is a potential of damage occurring to your natural lashes if you don’t do your research to find an experienced and  reputable lash artist and if you don’t follow after care instruction to a T.

A reputable lash artist will examine your natural lashes before applying extensions and will monitor the health of your lashes at every fill.  If you choose to go to someone because they are the most economical that can be like playing Russian Roulette with your eyelashes.  Less expensive isn’t necessarily better.

Usually less expensive implies less experience where there can be errors on behalf of the lash artist.  An experienced  lash artist will apply a single extension to each individual natural lash and not over-saturate with glue or glue natural lashes together.  When too much glue is used and the lashes become glued together your natural lashes are deprived of oxygen. They need oxygen  to continue to grow and  to maintain their health and integrity.

At home care is just as, if not more important in maintaining your lash health.  This is where personal habits and lifestyle should be considered before having eyelash extensions applied.  If you are someone who rubs your eyes you might not be a good candidate for extensions.  If this action is not corrected you significantly shortening the time you will need between fills andt there is potential for prematurely pulling out some of your natural lashes.

This doesn’t feel good and can hinder regrowth of natural lashes in that area.

Don’t be afraid to ask your lash artist questions and check in with them about how your natural lashes look from time to time.  Long story short, finding an experienced artist, following at home care precisely and reviewing the state of your lashes at every fill are imperative to keeping your natural lashes healthy while having eyelash extensions.
